US House of Representatives Votes to Remove Wolves from Endangered Species List
In a significant setback for wolf conservation efforts, the United States House of Representatives voted this week to remove Endangered Species Act protections from gray wolves and return wolf management to state-level government and wildlife officials. The ironically named "Trust the Science Act," introduced by extremist Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert, passed the House with 209 votes.
The recent torture and killing of a young wolf in Wyoming by a violent local named Cody Roberts proves that many states are not up to the task of overseeing wolf management. By removing Endangered Species Act protections from all wolves, these lawmakers will be opening the floodgates for wolves to be massacred across the United States.
Now the United States Senate has the power to stop this horrible bill from becoming law.
We need as many people as possible to reach out to their senators and urge them to vote NO on this bill.
You can use this link to find your representatives. Simply type in your zip code and your state representatives will appear, look for the two individuals that say "Senator"—under each person’s photo there will be a contact link. This will take you to their individual contact page where you can fill out an online form asking them to oppose S.1895.
You can use this note as a template or write your own.
Dear Senator [INSERT NAME],
I am your constituent, and I am writing to urge you to oppose S.1895. Grey wolves must remain on the Endangered Species List or they will be at risk of being hunted to extinction in much of the United States. The recent case of a wolf being tortured and killed in Wyoming with no repercussions proves that the states cannot be counted on to protect this important keystone species. Please do the right thing, and say no to S.1895.
Sincerely,
[YOUR NAME]
