More Brands Ditch Kangaroo Leather

It's good news for kangaroos as more brands have recently announced decisions to stop selling products made from the skins of these charming Australian marsupials.

Sokito, a UK-based soccer cleat brand, disclosed their decision to stop using kangaroo leather last month in a lengthy public statement that detailed the many horrors of the annual hunt which sees nearly 2 million kangaroos killed across Australia.

At the end of April, the Woolworths Group also revealed that it has removed kangaroo skins from its online shops after receiving significant backlash from angry customers who found its grim line of locally shot, tanned, and manufactured kangaroo skins particularly distasteful considering the negative impact that the kangaroo skin industry is having on Australia's wildlife.

As more and more brands cut ties with this cruel and unsustainable material, it is time for our governments to catch up with the private sector and do their part by banning the import of kangaroo body parts.
