Montana Wolves Under Serious Threat

A dangerous bill is currently making its way through the Montana Legislature that would put wolves across the state at grave risk of being slaughtered. Montana House Bill 176 would allow an unlimited wolf hunting quota in the state when the wolf population surpasses 550 individuals. If the bill is ultimately signed into law, Montana intends to eradicate half of its wolf population.

Proponents of the bill have repeated false talking points about the need to reduce wolf populations to protect livestock while also making easily disproven claims that the state's elk population, the largest in North America, is under threat due to wolves. In reality, it has been proven time and again that wolves are crucial for maintaining environmental balance and ensuring that grazing animal populations do not reach unsustainable numbers. This, in turn, prevents environmental degradation and keeps elk and other prey animal herds stronger.

Opponents of the bill have argued that it will hurt tourism in the state, as many people travel to Montana in hopes of seeing its spectacular wildlife. Despite strong opposition, the bill has already passed the Montana House of Representatives. However, there is still time to stop this dangerous legislation in the state Senate.

We can show Montana that it will indeed lose valuable tourist dollars if it moves forward with this sinister plan to massacre over 500 wolves.

To whom it may concern,

I am reaching out to let you know that I will be canceling all future trips to Montana as long as your state government continues to allow the unchecked killing of wolves. Instead, I will spend my time and money in states with more humane wildlife policies, where the balance of nature and the role of keystone predators are respected. If you do not want to see a significant drop in tourism in Montana, I suggest you do your part to oppose House Bill 176 when it is up for consideration in the Montana Senate.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Thank you for speaking out for wolves!
