World’s Biggest Meat Company Launches First Vegan Meat Range
JBS is the latest meat producer to diversify into the rapidly growing market for plant-based foods.
The world’s largest meat producer, JBS, has launched its first vegan meat range in the US.
With a global revenue of around $49 billion, the Brazilian meat giant JBS is now eager to capitalise on the growing demand for plant-based alternatives, by debuting its new OZO vegan range.
Made from a blend of pea and rice protein fermented by shiitake mushrooms, the products include burgers and ground mince.
The OZO range will hit shelves at Albertsons and Safeway locations in Rocky Mountain states, and also at Kroger stores in 12 states, reports Forbes.
The product line includes Burgers, Ground, Mexican-Seasoned Ground and Italian-Style Meatballs.
The launch comes after market analysts have reported that the current pandemic has accelerated the rise in consumers choosing non-animal foods. In 2020, a whopping $700 million has been invested in US plant-based food already.
