Beyond Meat Announces Partnership with Major Fast-Food Chains McDonalds Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut
The leading vegan meat brand secures a game-changing supply deal with some of the biggest players in the fast-food industry, as demand for vegan products continues to soar.
Beyond Meat has announced two multi-year global strategic partnerships: one with McDonald's, and one with Yum! Brands - the parent company of KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut.
As part of the agreement, the U.S. plant-based meat company will be McDonald’s ‘preferred supplier’ for the patty in the McPlant, a new plant-based burger being tested in select locations globally. The two companies will also explore and develop other menu items, including plant-based options for chicken, pork, and egg, as part of McDonald’s expanding McPlant range.
“Our new McPlant platform is all about giving customers more choices when they visit McDonald’s,” said Francesca DeBiase, McDonald’s Executive Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer. “Entering into this strategic agreement is an important step on our journey to bring delicious, high quality, plant-based menu items to our customers”.
And Beyond Meat’s global strategic partnership with Yum! Brands, one of the world’s largest restaurant companies, will see the co-creation of exclusive plant-based menu items for its iconic restaurant franchises KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut.
The collaboration will see Yum! Brands, build on the companies’ growing track record of innovative, plant-based products. KFC trialed Beyond Fried Chicken at an Atlanta-area restaurant in 2019, where the vegan meat sold out within five hours. KFC has since expanded testing of Beyond Fried Chicken in additional U.S. cities.
While Pizza Hut U.S. launched the Beyond Italian Sausage Pizza and the Great Beyond Pizza nationwide, becoming the first national pizza chain to introduce a plant-based meat pizza coast-to-coast.
“We expect this Beyond Meat partnership to strengthen our brands’ capability to offer delicious, plant-based menu items that are driven by consumer demand for more diverse protein options and our brands’ strategies in local markets,” said Chris Turner, Yum! Brands CFO.
These announcements come as demand for delicious plant-based products continues to soar, as consumers become increasingly aware of the impact that meat and dairy products have on the environment, farmed animals, and people’s health.
