Victory! Max Mara Goes Fur Free

Incredible news! After years of pressure from animal advocates around the globe, Max Mara has finally announced that they will stop selling fur and fur products.

This monumental victory for animals would not have been possible without all the members of this amazing community who joined the fight against fur by signing our petition, emailing and tweeting Max Mara, and helping us spread awareness of the horrors of the fur industry.

For far too long, Max Mara stubbornly refused to change and supported the unthinkable cruelty of the fur industry by selling coats with fox and mink fur trims, fox fur cuffs, and items using fur from raccoon dogs.

Species Unite and other animal advocacy organizations kept up the pressure and never stopped demanding that Max Mara embrace a compassionate future for fashion, and our hard work has finally paid off. Max Mara now joins a growing list of over 1,500 brands and designers who have pledged to go fur-free.

Thank you so much to the over 16,000 members of this community who joined the fight against fur by telling Max Mara to do the right thing. You are all a part of this incredible victory.

What You Fought Against

Every year, more and more major fashion brands are doing the right thing and pledging to end the use of animal fur in their clothing lines. This change is the natural result of increased awareness that has shown fur to be not only terrible for the environment but also extremely cruel to the animals who suffer torturous lives and violent deaths for no purpose other than to become decorative trim on high-end coats.

The biggest names in fashion, including Dolce & Gabbana, Armani, Kering, Moncler, Prada, Valentino, Versace, and many others, have either stopped using fur altogether or are beginning to phase it out with set end dates for fur in their lines.

For too long, Max Mara was one of the rare exceptions, choosing to remain on the wrong side of history.

Investigations into the farms where Max Mara sources their furs revealed horrific conditions. To produce the maximum-sized skins and furs, foxes are overfed until they are obese. They suffer from eye infections due to the filthy excess skin on their faces, which grows over their eyes, and many endure deformed paws from supporting their huge bodies on painful wire flooring.

Thankfully, with your help, Max Mara has finally joined the future of fashion and pledged to go fur-free.
