Over 15,000 Species Unite Advocates Demand Justice for Tortured Wolf

Over the past few weeks, all of us at Species Unite have been reeling from the sheer horror of the torture and killing of the young female wolf that occurred earlier this year in Wyoming.

We were all devastated by the recently released footage of the incident, which revealed that this poor young wolf's final moments were even more horrific than we could have imagined and we are all outraged that the violent individual responsible for this heinous crime, Cody Roberts, was given a mere $250 fine for this unthinkable act of cruelty.

What has kept us going while reporting on this dark case has been the incredible response of this amazing community—we are so grateful to the over 15,000 people who have sent letters to Sublette County Sheriff K.C. Lehr demanding justice for this wolf. We will continue to keep the pressure on until Cody Roberts is in jail where he belongs.

Next Steps:

1. Get Wolves Back on the Endangered Species List:

If we want real justice for wolves we must get them back on the Endangered Species List. If you haven't already, please sign our petition asking Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland to restore protections for gray wolves in the Northern Rocky Mountain region.

2. Change the Narrative for Wolves:

We need to build a culture of empathy, compassion, and understanding that can only be accomplished by addressing the young people who will one day inherit the war on wildlife. To that end, Species Unite recently launched our Wolves in Schools program. This 6-week curriculum is designed to teach children about the importance of protecting wolves to maintain a balanced ecosystem. Hundreds of teachers across the United States are already using our free curriculum in their classrooms but we need your help to reach more. Please share our Wolves in Schools program with any educators you know to help our campaign roll out across every state in the U.S. The curriculum is free to download from our website and is available for anyone to use.
