Ask Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland to Stop the Inhumane Roundups of America’s Wild Horses
Dear Secretary Haaland,
I am writing to you today to urge you to stop the BLM’s planned round-ups of thousands of wild horses in the American west over the next several weeks. The disastrous and cruel decision taken by the previous administration to capture, kill and contain thousands of wild horses should be seen for what it was, pandering to the cattle industry and nothing more.
As you have expressed that you will follow the science we are asking for an immediate stop to these round-ups in order to allow time for a full scientific review of best practices for safeguarding America’s treasured wild horses.
Taxpaying citizens have the right to decide how public lands are used and allowing the cattle industry to claim ownership of public spaces for their own profit should not be tolerated.
America’s wild horses are a part of our legacy as a nation and deserve to be protected. The 1971 Wild Free-Roaming Horse and Burro Act must be respected. Please do your part to end this cruelty and violence and allow wild horses to remain free.
Kind regards,
