Virtual Plant-Based Burgers Are Coming To The Metaverse
LA-based vegan eatery Honeybee Burger is bringing its popular plant-based burgers to OneRare - the world’s first food metaverse.
Vegan burgers are launching in the metaverse as popular LA-based burger joint Honeybee Burger partners with OneRare - the world’s first food metaverse.
Honeybee Burger has been serving plant-based versions of everything from traditional burgers to fried chicken sandwiches, after opening its first physical location in Los Angeles back in 2019.
Now, Honeybee is opening its first virtual location as part of OneRare’s virtual reality Foodverse.
The Foodverse is a virtual metaverse where users can create experiences, collect food NFTs, play games, and interact with leading chefs and foodies from across the world. Eventually, users will be able to mint NFT artworks by collecting virtual Ingredients and Recipes from chefs and branded restaurants, which can then be traded for meals and deals in real life.
Honeybee will enter the Foodverse with its own virtual location, dubbed ‘The Virtual Hive’, which will feature an NFT menu that aims to promote plant-based eating and sustainability.
Honeybee’s physical locations are known for their innovative menu, including a plant-based burger made from ocean-farmed kelp. Now the brand hopes it can use the metaverse to continue innovating - and promoting - sustainable, plant-based food.
“We like to think of Honeybee as an innovator, redefining the potential of vegan food in order to increase the appeal of plant-based dining globally”, says Honeybee’s founder Adam Weiss. “This innovation extends to our business and marketing, where we were one of the first to use Regulation CF to raise funds, and now we want to be one of the first to market in the metaverse.”
Alongside launching in the virtual metaverse, Honeybee’s physical stores are growing too. A new location is coming to New York City this summer, while Chicago will be home to two locations by the end of this year.
We spoke with Honeybee Burger’s founder Adam Weiss earlier this year, and chatted about how exactly he went from a Wall Street executive to a CEO of a vegan burger chain. Listen to the podcast episode here.
