Starbucks’ New Pumpkin Spice Creamer is Vegan-Friendly
Inspired by the iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte, the new dairy-free creamer can be found at stores nationwide.
Starbucks is getting ready to usher in the fall season with the release of its new vegan Pumpkin Spice Latte creamer. As part of the coffee chain’s fall offerings, the new, limited-edition beverage will be available at most major United States retail stores this month.
Retailing at $4.99 per bottle, the new vegan creamer is made to taste just like the traditional PSL but without any dairy products.
“Inspired by the fan-favorite Pumpkin Spice Latte, we crafted our creamer with a smooth, rich blend of almond milk and oat milk, and the delicious flavors of pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg to pair with our coffee for a perfect taste of fall,” Starbucks describes its new dairy-free creamer.
The new Pumpkin Spice Creamer joins Starbucks’ two other dairy-free creamers released last summer. Made with oat and almond milk, the Caramel Macchiato and Hazelnut Latte, are available all year round at retailers across the country.
Is the Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte vegan?
Despite being one of Starbucks’ most popular drinks, the coffee chain does not currently offer a fully vegan version of its Pumpkin Spice Latte in U.S. stores.
Although customers can swap out dairy milk for a plant-based alternative, the pumpkin syrup is currently made with skim milk and Starbucks does not currently offer vegan whipped cream in the U.S.
In 2018, Starbucks introduced a vegan Pumpkin Spice Latte in the United Kingdom, Netherlands, France, Switzerland, and Austria. The beverage proved to be so popular in the UK, that stores across the country began running out of the product by October. UK customers can also find dairy-free whipped cream topping, as well as a vegan Pumpkin Spice Cookie.
Starbucks, however, introduced the hugely popular Oatly oat milk in stores across the country earlier this year, giving customers the choice of four different plant-based milks.
And even more vegan items are expected to launch in the near future, after the chain’s CEO told investors that plant-based food and drink is “the most dominant shift in consumer behavior”.
As the world’s largest coffeehouse chain, Starbucks are embracing the plant-based trend on a global scale too.
The coffee giant recently released a new vegan menu in China, complete with Beyond Meat beef, plant-based Omnipork, and oat milk for beverages. The game-changing menu debuted across all of its 3,300-plus outlets in China. And last month saw the launch of two new Beyond Meat sandwiches on Starbucks’ menus across the Middle East in the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.
Unfortunately, Starbucks’ most popular seasonal beverage - their Pumpkin Spice latte that was the inspiration for the new vegan creamer - is still not vegan friendly in Starbucks stores across U.S. To help save the lives of countless baby cows, join Species Unite in urging Starbucks to make their Pumpkin Spice Latte vegan in the U.S.
