Slutty Vegan is Bringing its Famous Fast Food to NYC this Spring
Brooklyn residents will soon be able to get their hands on the chain’s mouthwatering, plant-based burgers and more, as Slutty Vegan debuts its first New York City outpost.
The famous Atlanta-based vegan burger joint, Slutty Vegan, has just announced it’s bringing its flavor-packed fast food to New York City this spring with the launch of a new branch.
Located in Brooklyn, NY, this will be the chain’s fifth brick-and-mortar store and first venture outside of Georgia. Founder and owner, Pinky Cole - whose first-ever restaurant, Pinky’s Jamaican & American Restaurant, was in Harlem - says that the NYC debut “feels like a full-circle moment”.
“It’s an honor to be opening a concept in such an established space, just down the street from where Biggie Smalls grew up, and to bring more delicious vegan food to the Brooklyn community.”
Slutty Vegan will be taking over a location in Fort Greene, a store that has housed plant-based eatery, Broccoli Bar, for the past two years. The menu, available for takeout and delivery, will feature the same crave-worthy favorites as its Georgia locations, including the One Night Stand, a burger loaded with vegan bacon, vegan cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato & Slut Sauce on a vegan Hawaiian bun, the Fussy Hussy, a burger loaded with pickles, vegan cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato & Slut Sauce on a vegan Hawaiian bun, amongst other vegan burgers, sandwiches, and more.
“We are 110 percent confident that the Slutty Vegan team and Pinky Cole are going to build upon making vegan food fun, accessible, and (outrageously) delicious in a neighborhood that has been primed for it, that wants it, in a world that needs it,” said Broccoli Bar Operations Manager Lisa Bergström “From Broccoli to burgers, baby it's all the same – vegan food and vegan life at 690 Fulton Street – it's lit. All aboard, go get Slutified."
Although the Slutty Vegan menu items themselves have nothing to do with sex, Cole wanted to “positively manipulate” the notion that sex sells, according to an interview with the New York Times. “We want you to have an orgasmic experience and the ultimate feeling of euphoria that comes after having a vegan burger.”
And clearly it’s working. Founded in 2018 with a core mission to transform vegan food culture and give back to others in the Black community, Slutty Vegan has created a much-loved brand with a cult following - vegans and meat-eaters alike. Celebrity fans include the likes of Snoop Dogg, Jermaine Dupri, Justin Timberlake, Taraji P. Henson, Tyler Perry, Tiffany Haddish, and Queen Latifah, and to promote the upcoming NYC opening, Cole recently teamed up with Naturi Naughton – actress, singer and star of “Power” and “Queens” – to create a video.
Through her foundation, The Pinky Cole Foundation, Cole is working to empower generations of color to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams via education, training, networking, and fundraising assistance. She also frequently donates to campaigns helping combat food insecurity and financial instability.
Slutty Vegan will open in spring of 2022, Thursday through Saturday, at 690 Fulton Street in Brooklyn. Follow their Instagram page for updates.
