“Change Cannot Wait”: NBA Star Enes Kanter Urges People To Try Vegan
The top athlete reveals his “heart was just shattering” when learning more and more about factory farms during quarantine.
NBA star and human rights activist Enes Kanter is urging people to try going vegan after the top athlete recently switched to a plant-based diet himself last season.
The Portland Trail Blazers center revealed that he made the decision to stop eating animals after learning about the horrors of factory farming.
During the downtime of quarantine in the NBA “bubble'' at the beginning of last season, Kanter found himself researching and learning about how animals are mistreated in the meat and dairy industries. “The more I read and the more I watched and learned and educated myself, my heart was just shattering” Kanter revealed in an interview with PETA. “That was the first time I decided we need change, and change cannot wait anymore.”
And the nearly 7-foot tall athlete debunked any myths about meat making you “stronger” or “faster”.
“You know, we always thought eating more meat is gonna make us stronger, gonna make us faster, leaner. And everything I learned was wrong” explained the star. “As an athlete, if I can do this, you can do this, too”.
Kanter becomes the latest sports star to embrace a plant-based diet, joining the likes of tennis ace Novak Djokovic, F1 champion Lewis Hamilton, and NFL star Cam Newton.
