The biggest meat producer in the United States has unveiled its first-ever range of plant-based meats, in a move that shows the increasing demand for plant-based protein options.

Tyson Foods slaughters over two billion animals every year, and supplies leading grocers, fast food, and restaurant chains, including KFC, Taco Bell, and Walmart.

But now, the meat giant is diversifying into the huge plant-based market with the launch of vegan burger patties, Bratwurst and Italian sausages, and ground.

Made from pea protein, the products have 75 percent less saturated fat than their meat counterparts, and are packed full of protein - the sausages have 17g of protein per serving while the burgers have 21g.

“Our products are plants made meatier, and deliver the same delicious flavors, in a better-for-you alternative,” said David Ervin, vice president of marketing at Raised & Rooted. “We are excited to provide people with satisfying alternative protein options perfect for any occasion.”

Released under Tyson Foods’ Raised & Rooted brand, the products are now available in the refrigerated section of grocery stores nationally.

Cooking up the new Raised & Rooted range could make a perfect crowd-pleasing dinner - why not host a Vegan Night with family and friends this season?
