A new initiative from plant-based brand Beyond Meat is set to distribute more than a million vegan Beyond Burgers for free in the next 30 days to frontline workers and food banks during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Feed A Million+ campaign has already seen the brand's celebrity ambassadors lend their support to the mission, with NBA star Kyrie Irving last week donating 200,000 vegan burgers to Food Bank, New York City’s biggest hunger relief organization.

Comedian Kevin Hart - who recently announced he’s trying a plant-based diet himself - also lent a hand by donating the vegan burgers to hospital workers in Southern California.

“We are dedicated to making sure those who need it most right now have access to a good, nourishing meal at no cost. Our community of employees, ambassadors, and friends are coming together to help us donate and distribute over one million Beyond Burgers to food banks, frontline workers, and organizations in need,” the brand said on social media. “Our goal has always been to use food as a vehicle for change, and we’re fortunate to be in a position to put that into action now like never before.”

Beyond Meat‘s campaign follows other plant-based companies who have also stepped up to help out those in need during the pandemic. A similar initiative in Brooklyn called “Plants to the People”, recently supplied 2000 free vegan meals to those in need and first responders.
